Durr Mechanical Construction, Inc. began operations in 1985 under the leadership of our Chairman/Treasurer, Robert J. Durr Sr. The formation of the company was the most logical step for Robert Durr whose career experiences were in the mechanical construction area. He worked as an employee of a large mechanical construction company and later became an officer and finally, president. Convinced that the management techniques developed in these positions were capable of creating a successful company, Robert Durr took on this challenge. Durr Mechanical has been structured to provide prompt service, on-time completion and quality workmanship to our clients in accordance with those management techniques. Our executive, construction and administrative staff of more than 250 people possess years of mechanical construction experience in the New York/New Jersey unionized labor markets. We have staff representation as an Executive Board Member (Past President) of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), Director of the Mechanical Contractors Association of NY, Board of Directors of the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB), Chairman of the Greater New York Welding Chapter of the NCPWB and various national and local union fund trusteeships. By maintaining an active involvement in both national and local committees, we are able to stay current with the many fluctuations and changes in the Mechanical Contracting Industry. Due to remarkable growth and overall success, Durr Mechanical has established itself in an enviable position as one of the area's leading mechanical contractors. Our ability to provide a quality installation at competitive prices makes us unrivaled in how we execute our contracted work. We have in house quality assurance program capabilities that have been demonstrated and approved by both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. As a result of their acceptance we have been issued "S" and "R" stamps indicating these prestigious groups' authorization to perform repair, manufacture and assembly of boiler and pressure vessels. Work generally performed by Durr Mechanical involves the rigging, setting, assembly, alignment and grouting of assorted process and power equipment including electric or steam driven compressors, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, heaters and packaged systems. Piping work has involved the erection and joining of high and low pressure piping systems made up of carbon steel, ductile and cast iron, plastic and copper materials in conjunction with some more exotic alloys such as 316 stainless steel and chrome-moly. Our work scope also includes the installation and testing of instruments, controls and apparatus associated with power and process systems. Finally, we have provided the ductwork, equipment installation and piping services for various type HVAC installations in the commercial and industrial sectors of the New York / New Jersey market.
