Kenneth A. Durr President

Kenneth A. Durr is the President of Durr Mechanical Construction, Inc. With over thirty years’ experience in Mechanical Contracting, Ken is recognized as an expert and leader in the Mechanical Contracting industry.

As President, he is the Chief Operating Officer for the company. Ken oversees all departments and leads DMC’s strategy for company development and financial growth. His leadership responsibilities include: reviewing job costs, final project estimates and sales leads, as well as negotiating contracts. He works closely with all Vice Presidents and Consultants. Ken is involved in the decision-making processes for all important issues.

Ken’s expertise in mechanical contracting and management are underscored by his active involvement and commitment to both local and national industry associations. Ken served six years on the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s Board of Directors (2004-2010). Ken is an Executive Board member and  Past President of both the Building Trade Employers Association (2009-2013) and the Mechanical Contractors Association of NY (1999-2013). He served on the MCANY Trade Board from 1999 to 2013. Ken is currently a Management Trustee for the Steamfitters’ Local 638 Pension Fund.

Robert J. Durr, Jr. Vice President/Secretary

Robert J. Durr, Jr. is a Vice President and the Secretary of Durr Mechanical Construction, Inc.  He is a New York City Licensed Master Plumber and Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractor. With over thirty years’ experience in mechanical contracting, Bob is regarded as one of the mechanical contracting industry’s foremost welding experts.

As Vice President, Bob oversees DMC’s Estimating and Procurement Department as well as shop operations.  He is now involved with labor relations and the overview of major Power, Process and specialty projects.  Bob oversees DMC’s QA/QC program – including monitoring and maintenance of all welders, procedures and NBIC “R” and ASME “S” and “U” code stamps. He also guides the company’s employee development and training strategy.

In addition to his duties as an officer of the company, Bob is a respected leader in local and national industry associations and trade organizations. Bob currently serves on the Board of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). He has also served on the Subcontractor Trade Association’s Executive Committee. Bob is involved with both the MCA of New York and the MCA of New Jersey. He has been the Chairman, Treasurer, and Technical Representative of the Greater New York Welding Chapter/NCPWB since 1993 and has served on the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau’s Board of Directors since 2003. He is the Vice President of the MCA of NJ, where he oversees the ACE/MCIC Committee and the Welding Committee.

Bob is on the Trustee Boards of both Local 475 Steamfitters and Local 5 Boilermakers.

Frank HeidingerVice President—Operations and Safety

Frank Heidinger is a Vice President for Operations and Safety at Durr Mechanical Construction, Inc.  He is a New York City Licensed Site Safety Manager.  With over 40 years experience in the mechanical construction industry, Frank has earned the respect of management and unionized labor throughout the region.

Frank’s responsibilities encompass all facets of construction management including strategic planning, contract administration, cost control and assuring that Project Managers perform in accordance with company methods and goals.  Additionally, Frank is responsible for the development and maintenance of safety and training programs, administration of record, incident investigation and the enforcement of policies and corrective action.

Beyond his duties as a company officer, Frank is an active leader in the mechanical construction industry.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Trade Board of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New York, is a Trustee of the Steamfitters’ Industry Education Fund, Chairman of the Foreman Training Program and Co-Chairman of the Building Trades Employers’ Association’s Safety Committee.

Paul ThompsonVice President

Paul Thompson joined Durr Mechanical Construction as a Project Manager in 2000.  A licensed Engineer since 1975, Paul has accumulated over 35 years of engineering and management experience in the mechanical contracting industry.

As a Vice President of DMC, Paul is directly involved with decisions regarding the daily operations of the company as well as DMC’s long term strategy for business development.  Paul oversees construction project management, contract administration, cost control, project planning and implementation; Paul supervises the performance of Project Managers. Paul is involved with the development and maintenance of Durr’s safety and training program.  He also leads the company’s technology committee.
